SUMMARY:Crains Detroit: "Common Ground to launch behavioral health urgent care program\, site"
DESCRIPTION:“There are urgent care locations around every corner in Metro Detroit for those with physical health issues.\nBut people with mental health and substance use issues have only hospital emergency rooms to turn to when they can’t get in to see their doctor\, run out of medication and/or face other issues. \nCommon Ground is looking to change that with a new behavioral health urgent care program. \nThe Pontiac-based nonprofit on Tuesday morning is set to announce $1.2 million campaign to fund startup costs for the program to give those with lower acuity issues such as depression\, anxiety or substance use an alternative to visiting hospital emergency rooms or going it alone. \n“We’re trying to give alternatives to the ER before things get so bad that it becomes a life or death situation for folks\,” Common Ground President and CEO Heather Rae said.”That’s the sweet spot for these urgent cares.” \n“What we’re seeing now is (for) people who can’t get into their doctor to renew their prescription and have gone a couple of days without meds\, things are starting to get worse\,” she said.” \nContinue reading the story here (Premium Article). \nSherri Welch\nCrain’s Detroit Business

SUMMARY:Survivors of Suicide Loss Day - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an event in which survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection\, understanding\, and hope through their shared experience. Due to current restrictions and concerns regarding Covid-10 we will not be hosting any in person ISOSL Day events in Michigan. We will instead offer two virtual events (A.M and P.M sessions). We have transitioned this AFSP signature event\, into what we are confident will be an engaging online experience\, in which you will be able to connect with other loss survivors. We look forward to spending this beautiful and healing day with you. More details coming soon.
