Common Ground Services

Across southeastern Michigan, our trained staff offers mental health services to people who are currently in crisis.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is operated by Common Ground and serves as Michigan’s 24/7 crisis support line. We are available for people in immediate distress who don’t know where to turn. 988 is also available for people who are concerned about a loved one who needs help. Callers are welcome to remain anonymous. Our crisis specialists receive rigorous training in trauma-informed care, active listening, cultural competency, and compassionate communication. They strive to create a safe and non-judgement space where you can share your stories, emotions and concerns openly. Our specialists respect your autonomy and privacy, while helping you make informed decisions and take control of your life. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a program of the Michigan Crisis and Access Line (MiCAL). As an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, we offer voluntary, short-term, recovery-oriented psychiatric care, which includes medication management and monitoring, nursing, group therapy, art therapy, and discharge planning. To learn more, call 1-800-231-1127.

Serving Oakland County residents

Our mission is to support the first responder community and their families. Frontline Strong operates 24/7/365 and is staffed with civilians and first responders trained as crisis specialist with First Responder competencies. For support, call 833-347-8766 (833-34-STRONG) or visit www.fst5.org. Responder focused mental health therapy, peer support groups, and substance abuse rehabilitation resources are available. Callers are welcome to remain anonymous. Frontline Strong is a program of the Michigan Crisis and Access Line (MiCAL), a statewide crisis line developed in partnership with Common Ground, the State of Michigan, and Wayne State University.

The warmline connects individuals living with persistent mental health and or substance use conditions with MDHHS Certified Peer Support Specialist & recovery coaches who have experienced behavioral health issues, trauma or personal crisis and are trained to support and empower callers. It provides support to individuals who often lack social connectedness and may have increased anxiety and isolation. This service is available to residents of Michigan regardless of insurance status. Whether you’re in a hospital, at home or in another facility, our mobile team (available in Oakland and Genesee Counties) can come to you, evaluate your needs, provide immediate crisis intervention and work with you to create a custom recovery plan. 24/7 Communications Center that links community partners and people in crisis with local services. Our crisis-trained specialists listen, care and connect.

Staffed by paramedics and peer support specialists, our voluntary Sober Support Unit is a safe space for individuals struggling with drugs or alcohol. This 24-hour program is designed to monitor individuals who need detoxification services and then connect them to residential substance use treatment. To learn more, call 1-800-231-1127.

Serving Oakland County residents

Those who have lost a loved one to homicide can gather every Wednesday over Zoom from 6:30p- 8:00p. Call Chris Ruen at 248-622-3329 or Ronisha Kibler at 248-904-5308, to register.

This peer-led, open support group is available to anyone who has experienced a suicidal loss. For ages 14 and older, however those under the age of 18 must have a parent attend with them.

In-person meetings are available on the first and third Mondays of the month from 7pm-8:30pm. For more details call 800-231-1127 or email bseagraves@commongroundhelps.org.

This program serves as a safe place for the East Lansing community for anyone impacted by the February 2023 mass violence incident.
