After Sara lost her younger brother to suicide, she realized the importance of getting people the help they need, before it’s too late. Now, she volunteers on Common Ground’s Resource & Crisis Helpline, assisting Michiganders with crises of all kinds.
When Melvin had no support during a tough time in his life, he turned to Common Ground’s Resource & Crisis Helpline. Now, he’s a recovery coach in our Sober Support Unit, helping others who are in similar situations.
After losing her father, uncle and grandfather to suicide, Jessica (the owner of Heavenly Day Spa and an advocate for suicide prevention) organized the first Facials Against Suicide, an annual fundraiser that focuses on raising funds for our suicide prevention and awareness programs. Jessica has also found our Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group to be an essential part of her healing process.
When Terri’s 24-year-old son died by suicide, her world imploded. Faced with an unimaginable loss, she struggled to make it through each day. And then… she found Common Ground. Our Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group helped her explore her feelings and move forward with hope.
