Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Seminar

Waterford Youth Assistance’s Family and Youth Education Committee hosts Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Seminar.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people between 10 to 24. Guest speaker Erin Spankowski, a staff member at Common Ground is currently a Victim’s Advocate and has worked as the chat and text coordinator of the Resource and Crisis Helpline which has given her extensive knowledge and experiences in suicide prevention and intervention. Parents and students will learn the difference between self-harm and suicide, the warning signs and how parents can help and support their child.
