Common Ground COVID-19 Update

The coronavirus is shifting the way we live our lives and perhaps more insidiously causing anxiety and triggering emotions and mental health concerns for people. Common Ground is here to help. Common Ground is a crisis response agency designed to help those in a mental health or substance use crisis. The current environment has changed the way we are doing things but has not kept us from helping people move from crisis to hope.

Common Ground is taking appropriate precautions in protecting staff and the people we serve. We are currently not allowing visitors in any program except for a parent of minor children in OACIS. While the moves we have made to protect staff and people served will help, they are not sufficient. We ask people to call our Resource and Crisis Helpline at 1-800-231-1127 before coming to the Crisis Center. People may also reach us by texting that number or chatting with one of our counselors by visiting our web site: CommonGroundHelps.org.  Our trained staff may be able to help those in crisis without an in-person visit or give them the resources necessary to resolve their crisis. If face to face treatment is needed, Common Ground is ready to help, but we also need your help. We are in dire need of cleaning wipes, alcohol, masks and latex gloves to protect our staff. If you can donate any of these supplies, please contact Vickie Kennedy at vkennedy@cghelps.org.

Active programming at the Resource and Crisis Center (1200 N. Telegraph Pontiac) includes: crisis stabilization, sober support and crisis residential services. If you suspect you may have contracted the coronavirus or have been in touch with someone who has, call your doctor. Your physician will be able to direct you to the appropriate care. Common Ground provides behavioral health and sober support crisis services. While our staffing does include medical personnel, we are not equipped to care for coronavirus patients.

During this challenging time, we ask for your help in keeping people safe and helping us continue to help people move from crisis to hope.
