Yes, but you do not need insurance to get help from Common Ground.

Yes. All services are confidential. Exceptions are made only in cases of imminent danger or risk of harm.

No. Calls are not recorded under any circumstances.

To ensure confidentiality and safety, our phone number may appear as all 9’s on your caller ID.

Most of our services are available at no cost. For guests with private insurance, there may be a co-pay or deductible.

To support a loved one who is unwilling to get the care they need, you can go to the mental health division of the probate court in their county of residence and request a “court-ordered petition.” The court will explain how to proceed after that is acquired.

You can request medical records by calling 1-248-451-3783 and leaving a message. We check for messages twice daily, at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. All calls will be returned within 24 hours.

Yes. Common Ground began as a volunteer agency more than 50 years ago, and we continue to provide volunteer opportunities in many of our programs. To learn more, please visit our volunteer page.

Yes. Common Ground provides internship/practicum opportunities in many disciplines. For example, we are a field placement agency with the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Michigan State University, Oakland University and the Michigan School of Psychology. We also provide internship opportunities for those earning their MSW (both macro and clinical), BSW, MS-Clinical Psychology, BS-Psychology or MPA, and for those studying to work in human resources or as a mental health technician or paralegal. Lastly, Common Ground provides memorable learning experiences and offers excellent training in crisis intervention, CPR, first aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI), and more.
