This week marks the 50th anniversary of EMS Week when we recognize EMTs and paramedics for their care, commitment and sacrifice. This year’s theme, “Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future,” reminds us to look back and learn from the founding leaders who made EMS what it is today, and continue the progressive path with tenacity, always striving for the best. Using research and people-centered care, EMS professionals perform extensive roles such as educating the public, training incoming EMTs and paramedics, and providing skilled on-site, en route or emergency department intervention.
Common Ground is a non-profit organization that unites individuals in crisis with services that offer help and hope. Our EMS teams perform essential duties in the Sobor Support and Crisis Residential Units located at the Resource & Crisis Center in Pontiac. First responders trained as crisis specialists, also serve in the field through our Frontline Strong program.
EMS professionals at Common Ground perform duties such as walk-in crisis services and emergency department assessments, stabilization, referrals, administration of medication, and other treatments.
Thank you to all Common Ground EMS staff, for your daily service and life-changing intervention:
